Hip Hop Music - Thank You & RIP Guru

Hey everyone

I thought I would do a blog post to say I love Hip Hop Music I know this may surprise a lot of people but it doesnt surprise me that people would think that.

Hip Hop music influenced me to come up with Real Name No Gimmicks at the beginning of my videos. How did this come about some of you asked and I mentioned it a long time but thought I will mention it again.

I was getting ready to go to a Kanye West gig in Brighton in November 2007 and then I was listening to a lot of hip hop and then suddenly it came from this song done by Obie Trice listen between 0:22 to 0:38 of this video -

Here are the lyrics just in case -

Yeah, Obie Trice, real name no gimmicks
I came in the game, profane no image
I came in the game, with a name
I was given from a mayn who ain't give a fuck about his child-ren
I proclaim the name though, never in vain no

Thats how Real Name No Gimmicks came out of me and became a catchpharse to people on Youtube. So I thank Hip Hop music for giving me that to help me with that but also with confidence that while people say Hip Hop music creates negativity which the media say, I felt it creates something more positive apart from people who talk about guns and knives with no moral lesson to learn from.

Hip Hop music gave me the courage to become more upfront in certain ways of expressing opinions although people may try to shut me down sometimes and they are right to but other times I feel I need to make a stand against others and I never back down.

Like for example I was talking about Summer In The City in one of my blog entries where I said I felt I went to much better gatherings than that one and while someone came to me to say their points, I still stood by my points and understood a couple of points that someone was coming back at me with. Now Im listening to it again It gives me more courage to not give a flying toss about haters but anyone who has something constructive to say then I will listen to what they have to say and then give my point if I feel if there is something I can say back.

THANK YOU HIP HOP MUSIC

OK onto the second topic I want to talk about and what made me want to write this blog about thanking Hip Hop music for giving me the real name no gimmicks catchpharse.

Today a rapper by the name of Guru passed away. Guru had been battling with cancer for over a year and I will admit it was the first time I heard about it, maybe it was because I lost the passion to listen to Hip Hop because of corporations bleeding the genre dry or I lost interest in a lot of web sites and focused on my youtube. Its always sad to hear about someone passing away through cancer and to someone who voiced his true opinions about the music, its sad to hear they passed away.

He was part of the Rap Duo Gang Starr with producer DJ Premier (one of the best producers in Hip Hop music ever). Guru was one of those rappers who made me think about life instead of the darker stuff that was happening. He had a flow that was very unique to other rappers I heard and one of the best yet. I got into Gang Starr/Guru really late and the first album I heard was "Full Clip: A Decade Of Gang Starr"

Even his longtime partner Solar said to MTV "The world has lost one of the best MCs and hip-hop icons of all-time — my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru,"

Guru was one of those rappers that made you think about situations that was going on with the world that doesnt revolve around death.

I remember hearing some stuff from an old album done by Sway & King Tech "This Or That" that there are two rules that rappers should look into

1) Think about what you are saying on wax (Record) that any rapper will say whatever they want to gain publicity

The second one is something that youtubers have talked about in the past

2) Selling out by jumping into a suits and listening to the label and getting told what to do.

This is where I felt that respected Gang Starr a lor more after hearing that intro on Sway & King Tech's album. What I mean is artists mainly mainstream some of them will say anything they want to get attention and make it in the industry. Thats where I learned the word Beef and how artists would compete with each other.

Im going off topic

Guru you will be missed, may you rest in peace, my heart goes out to his family, friends, DJ Premier and Solar who lost a great person.

Here is a selection of my favourite Guru/Gang Starr videos including a freestyle he did with FaithSFX someone that NSG knows.

I will like to say Guru you will be missed by a lot of people that you have influenced with your music and thanks for making me understand that life should be something important and not think about death when I was teenager.

This track dropped onto Youtube yesterday and it was a track done by BOB featuring Eminem & Hayley Williams from Paramore. This is a great track that is about imaging if they were thinking about what could happen.

I may include Hip Hop tracks more in the future for my blogs. Take it easy everyone and have a great night.

Hows my life going? (14th April)

Hey Guys

Its been some time since my last entry and it was Good Friday when I did a quick one for World Autism Awareness Day and I felt really happy with how that video turned out in the end. Got great support from people including Gary (CheekTV), CheekyChen, Pixonu, Liliesarelike (Charlie Mcdonnell's Mum), John Green and lot more people showing support for the video.

This is a huge thanks to everyone watching and leaving a comment. I did have an e-mail from someone who produced a website called Autism151. They contacted me yesterday asking if they could put my video onto their site and I said yes.

I am now on the site with the video and you can go here Autism151 Website

Its really good that someone from a site contacted me and loved what I did for WAAD. I love that.

OK another point I want to bring up the previous blog entry called "Daveyboyz & Barry Aldridge in Brighton (August 2008) & Conflict/Beef" I received a comment from Nerimon asking me a question "Can 'Squash That Beef' be the motto of the YouTube community?", now I think this could be a good idea as while I dont get involved with things going on but I feel there should a message to say there are people including me tired hearing about conflicts among the community.

So yeah Im with Nerimon on this one. I think that DFTBA Records should sell the T-shirt if they think it is a good idea. Probably wont be but who knows.

Right back to my life, yesterday my mate Arron came round for a visit to see me and we had a blast. Played on a few games including Rock Band 2 and Beatles Rock Band and that was fun.

We tried to come up with a number of video ideas but we were able to do one idea that I wanted to do for a while and it was doing an MTV Crib spoof video.

I do a crib one a long time ago and felt it is hard to watch nowadays so I privated that video and a new Youcrib video.

I got the idea from NSG who did one back in December

Now onto how the video was made. The beginning bit with the outside was Arron's idea and I told him what to say and thats it and then the rest was uncut and it was 10 minutes long once we finished filming and had to take out bits where I rambled on about certain stories which werent funny so I took them out and it made the final video better. To have background music was Arron's idea as well, as he remembers the days of MTV Cribs which is cool. Some people have said the music is a bit loud at certain points but hey its a learning curve.

I started to do Doctor Who reviews a couple of weeks ago and I have to say Im having fun doing them.

I am going to continue with this as I am having fun doing them. I cant wait til Saturday's episode with the Winston Churchill and The Daleks.

Before I go I have bought a load of PS3 games and thought I would what I think quickly

Yakuza 3 - Great game with a great storyline but can be boring at times
Just Cause 2 - Fun and over the top action game, controls can be a problem
Brutal Legend - Funny game but takes time to get used to
Bioshock 2 - Need to play more haha

OK Im done and hope there is more blogs to come.

OK Bye

Daveyboyz & Barry Aldridge in Brighton (August 2008) & Conflict/Beef

Hey Guys

Im at NSGs at the moment just chilling out and its around half 7 in the morning and feel good. OK good news for me is that Davey unprivated our collab we did in Brighton which I found funny to do.

It was a shame that Davey privated it after it was uploaded because a lot of my family got the joke and some youtubers got the joke. They were some who didnt get it because of the humour and they are good friends of mine which is cool, then there were some who didnt get it maybe because of jealously that I got to work with Davey which some of my friends think and they could be right.

Davey if you read this PLEASE DONT UNPRIVATED THE VIDEO. I know you get worried with public conscience but FUCK THAT if you like what we did keep it up. I know I had some issues with you at one point but I let it go and thats how we were able to do a Face 2 Face. I feel Im getting too old to get into beef with other youtubers to me its more laughable seeing other youtubers arguing over things.

Oh yeah I have heard about and read DoctorBenjy's blog about the state of Youtube of what he thinks, Nerimon's comments to the blog in the comments and Tom Milsom's reponse to Benjy's blog on his website. I will say I am not going to get involved with my views. I only got caught with reading them on Tuesday while they were posted last Thursday because of doing with Tescos between that time period.

To me any situation of conflict or the word I like Beef nowadays is considered laughable because it reminded of me beefing with others when I was younger while I took seriously when I was younger nowadays I consider it more of a laugh and look back in the time and just say how stupid we were. Some of the beefs I had in the past have been squashed or moved on but at least they got resolved.

I know that some people one day when they had an issue with someone either in real life or on the internet will either a) squash their situation or b) move on from the situation and get on with life. Thats the two outcomes of any situation that involves conflict.

OK moving on to the final talk.

I always love it when BillTVMacon comes out with something good. Hes one of my favourite youtubers

OK Got to go Im about to fall off NSG's chair haha.

Peace

Barry
